"Today started out pretty early going to Rick Owens," says Noel. "It was of course a delight as I am a fan of his interior design as well as his clothing. We were greeted by our friend Lucca from Italy and promptly turned over to Conrad, a Rick Owens model-turned-salesperson. Seeing the collections from someone who has lived in them was quite helpful." "Rick’s collection was beautiful," says Noel. "We wrote what we think is a perfect order for our San Diego clientele, introducing them to Rick Owens slowly and showing how feminine Rick can be. These pieces last a lifetime." Photo: Courtesy of Amy Noel

"Then we were treated to an amazing lunch cooked in the kitchen of his showroom where I politely kept dropping my peas off my fork," says Noel. "They rolled off the steel table and onto the concrete floor. We had a nice laugh." Photo: Courtesy of Amy Noel

"Then it was off to see Leonard and Olivia at Maison Martin Margiela," says Noel. "The architecture of the 'nunnery' where they housed orphans back in the day was a big delight for me as a designer." Photo: Courtesy of Amy Noel

Currently in
Paris for Fashion Week, Amy Noel, founder of sleek design/lifestyle nest
Suite 102, has a schedule packed with atelier visits to the likes of
Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Doo.Ri and Rag & Bone.
Above, Noel sends us Part One of her Paris Fashion Week diary, in which
she tells us what garments she's buying for the boutique. Read on for
why Southern Californians need not fear the dark wonders of Rick Owens (where Noel
and staffer Alexis Dizon were treated to lunch made by the showroom
kitchen), for "pretty little things" by Sacai, and for some lusciously
draped dresses courtesy of Margiela.
